Dr. Osamu Sakai, MD, PhD is Professor of Radiology and Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and Radiation Oncology, Chief of Neuradiology, and Director of Head and Neck Imaging at Boston Medical Center, Boston University School of Medicine. He received his MD from Yamagata University School of Medicine, Japan and PhD from Jichi Medical School, Japan.  He completed radiology residency at Jichi Medical School Hospital, research fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, and neuroradiology fellowship at Boston medical Center.  He is dual board certified in radiology by the American Board of Radiology with subspecialty board in neuroradiology, and the Japanese Board of Radiology.  He is specialized in head and neck radiology as well as neuroradiology, with special interest in quantitative and perfusion imaging. He is a PI or Co-I of multiple clinical research and other multicenter clinical trials at the Boston Medical Center.

 

Dr. Sakai is known internationally as a renowned educator as well as researcher. He has given more than 90 invited talks internationally and serves as a committee member of national and international societies and a reviewer for multiple journals in radiology and otolaryngology - head and neck surgery. His enthusiasm in education is easily seen in his 5 books, more than 40 book chapters and numerous numbers of awards on educational exhibits at major scientific meetings, including 25 awards from RSNA including 2 Magna Cum Laude. He is a recipient of RSNA Honored Educator Award in 2013 and 2014. He presented more than 300 abstracts at the major scientific meetings and published more than 100 peer reviewed articles.
