Professor Ali Guermazi is Vice Chair of Academics in Radiology at Boston Medical Center and Director of the Quantitative Imaging Center (QIC) at Boston University Medical School. Prior to joining Boston University in 2007, he was Director of the Osteoporosis and Arthritis Research Group (OARG) at University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) and then Director of Clinical Research at Synarc, Inc. in San Francisco. He is also president of BICL, an international imaging lab with a focus on Osteoarthritis Advancements in imaging.

 

Dr. Guermazi is notably known for his interest is musculoskeletal diseases and his scientific contributions in the diagnosis and disease progression assessment of osteoarthritis using MRI. His work has focused on identifying structural risk factors for developing and worsening osteoarthritis. He is author of over 310 peer-reviewed publications and Investigator on numerous research grants related to MRI reading for Osteoarthritis. He has edited over 9 books, authored over 50 chapters and is Deputy Editor of Radiology (RSNA) since May 2013.  Dr. Guermazi is one of the most respected physicians of OA imaging and has individually lead three international conferences resulting in more than 600 published articles and abstracts contributing to the advancements found in OA today.  He is an international speaker at notable conferences and research institutions around the globe.
