Dr. Akira Murakami is currently the Assistant Program Director of the Radiology Residency Program at Boston University Medical Center.  He is an Assistant Professor of Radiology in the Musculoskeletal Imaging Section. He completed his residency at Boston University Medical Center where he served as a Chief Resident.  This was followed by a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Imaging at the Hospital for Special Surgery.  Currently, Dr. Murakami is in charge of the musculoskeletal imaging protocols for magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography.  He regularly lectures the radiology residents and medical students at the Boston University School of Medicine.  He also hosts regular multidisciplinary imaging conferences for Orthopaedics, Podiatry, and Sports Medicine.  Dr. Murakami is an expert in musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound guided musculoskeletal interventions.  He has served as a clinical instructor on multiple hands on workshops at Boston University School of Medicine and at the Society of Skeletal Radiology Annual Meeting. He has co-authored 18 scientific and education exhibits and 13 peer reviewed publications. He is a board certified radiologist.
