Dr. Frank Roemer is Section Chief of MRI at Klinikum Augsburg, Germany, a large teaching institution affiliated with the University of Munich. He also headed a hospital-associated musculoskeletal MRI private practice group and is Associate Professor in Research at Boston University School of Medicine. He is a board certified radiologist. He spent time in the U.S. completing a research fellowship at University of California, at San Francisco as part of the Osteoporosis and Arthritis Research Group and is currently Co-Director of the Quantitative Imaging Center (QIC) at the Department of Radiology at Boston University. Dr. Roemer has long standing experience in semiquantitative scoring of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fracture healing and osteoporosis. For several years, he has been one of the main radiological analysts for several large NIH funded osteoarthritis studies including the Health Aging and Body Composition (Health ABC) study, the Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study (MOST), the Framingham Osteoarthritis study, the Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI), and other large NIH-funded studies, as well as several Pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical trials.
Dr. Frank Roemer is the author of over 36 peer-reviewed and invited publications in the area of musculoskeletal research. He has written 1 book chapter. He lectures regularly at international scientific and medical congresses.
